Attending GreenFest is a free, fun, relaxing way to spend your Saturday afternoon.  Bring the whole family for some music, to explore the exhibits or check out a film.  How you plan your day at GreenFest is up to you, so be sure to check back soon for more information on GreenFest 2017’s entertainment!

Bach to Rock Student Groups: Bach to Rock in Gaithersburg provides music lessons for students of all ages and skill levels living in Gaithersburg, Rockville & Germantown. Instruments we teach include guitar, piano, drums, voice, violin, trumpet & more!

At GreenFest, several of our solo and student groups will be performing.  Stay tuned for the list of students and what you’ll hear at GreenFest.

Thomas Young Ethiopian Dancers: For the second year in a row, the Thomas Young Ethiopian Dancers will be performing at GreenFest.



Environmental Films

The Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital is proud to support the Montgomery County GreenFest for a third year!

This year, GreenFest features 4 short wildlife and nature documentaries from the 2017 Environmental Film Festival. The trailers are below.  The films will start after 1pm — check back soon for the timing of each screening.

For Kids

We plan to have a lot of fun games and activities for kids of all ages to enjoy at GreenFest 2017.

  • The Kids Pavilion: The new Kids Pavilion will feature games and activities all focused on water. There will be special guests including Woody the Tree, Willy the Waterdrop and Coastie the Safety Boat.
  • Electric Vehicle and Car Show: Attendees had the chance to explore the different types of hybrid and electric vehicles that are currently on the market including the Toyota Prius Prime, the Nissan Leaf and a Tesla.

  • Exhibitors: Many of the exhibitors had games and activities for families, and kids had the opportunity to learn about volunteering, plants, energy, waste reduction and recycling.


Learn something new at the GreenFest


Skill Building and Workshops

  • The Arts Zone: Meet local artists going green, view a demo, and even buy some of their art to take home. They will demonstrate skills such as:
    • Paper reuse for arts and crafts
    • How to make “coil”, “rope” or “toothbrush” rag rugs


  • Sustainable Food Demonstrations: Meet local farmers and chefs to learn how to cook seasonably, and with lower environmental impact, and why your food choices can make a big difference for your health and the planet.  There will be 3 demos at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.
