The Montgomery County GreenFest has announced its event schedule and programming through its new website at montgomerycountygreenfest.org. The GreenFest will be held from 11a.m. to 4 p.m.at the Cultural Arts Center at the Montgomery College Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus and Jesup Blair Local Park.
Activities at GreenFest include:
“We are delighted to be one of several organizing partners bringing GreenFest to the entire community,” said Veronique Marier, executive director of Bethesda Green, a local environmental organization. “GreenFest promises to be an extraordinary event for anyone – both kids and adults — interested in pursuing a greener lifestyle. It will also be great fun.”
The GreenFest website also features directions to the event, a listing of exhibitors and kid-focused activities. As part of GreenFest’s commitment to reducing its footprint and paper usage, the website was designed for mobile devices so attendees can easily view the schedule on their phones without needing a printed schedule.
Sustainably sourced lunch items, including snacks and vegan options, will be available for purchase through Montgomery College’s foodservice provider, Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services. Attendees who bring a reusable bottle can also receive a discount on drinks, such as lemonades and iced tea.
The Montgomery County GreenFest is organized by a coalition of 13 government and non-profit partners. The goal of GreenFest is to provide County residents with an opportunity to celebrate their local environment and learn more about key ways everyone can play a part in greening their community.
