History of GreenFest
The first County-wide GreenFest took place in 2015 at Jessup Park in Silver Spring. Since then, GreenFest events have taken place in various locations throughout the County and hosted thousands of County community members.

Montgomery County GreenFest is going big in 2026! To honor the 250th anniversary of Montgomery County (founded in 1776), this year’s theme centers on legacy and collective action. We invite every resident to celebrate Montgomery County’s 250 years by committing to 250 actions that safeguard our environment and public health.
