GreenFest Through the Years

The first County-wide GreenFest took place in 2015 at Jessup Park in Silver Spring. Since then, GreenFest events have taken place in various locations throughout the County and hosted thousands of County community members. Check out a brief history of Greenfest and celebrate 10 years with us!

2013

Silver Spring Green hosts the first local GreenFest in autumn at the Silver Spring Civic Building.

2014

Silver Spring Green hosts GreenFest.

2015

GreenFest is rebranded to ‘Montgomery County GreenFest’ and held County-wide for the first time. The planning committee is expanded to include 13 partners. The event is held at Montgomery College and Jessup Blair Park in Silver Spring.

2016

GreenFest is held at Takoma Park Community Center.

2017

GreenFest is held at Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg.

2018

GreenFest is held at Jessup Blair Park in Silver Spring.

2019

GreenFest is held at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton.

2020

GreenFest is scheduled to be held again at Brookside Gardens but is canceled due to COVID-19.

2021

GreenFest goes virtual with online workshops offered each Thursday in April.

2022

GreenFest is back in person at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton.

2023

Two GreenFest events are planned: GreenFest in the Gardens at Brookside Gardens and GreenFest in the City at Marian Fryer Town Plaza. GreenFest in the Gardens is canceled due to weather.

2024

GreenFest is held at BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown.

2025 – Celebrating 10 Years!

Montgomery County GreenFest celebrates 10 years at Marian Fryer Town Plaza in Wheaton. We have a special Anniversary Giveaway for the first 500 registrants. New this year is the GreenFest Eco Hero Award. Heroes will be announced at the event.
